Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 is an improved version of Shelly 1 Mini. Similar to the Shelly 1 Mini, it has the same small size and power switching capability as the Shelly 1 Mini, with a maximum current switching capacity of 8A, making it an ideal choice for contact control. The difference with its predecessor is that it uses Shelly's proprietary chip. The module is also suitable for voltage-free switching. It does not include a consumption measurement function.

The Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 is an improved version of the Shelly 1 Mini single circuit smart relay. It can switch up to 8A current, the same as its predecessor. As with the Shelly 1 Mini, the Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 has a control circuit that is independent of the supply voltage required to operate the relay, making it suitable for dry contact switching. No consumption measurement function is included.

Like all other Shelly products, it connects directly to the WiFi router, no local control panel, hub or gateway (brdige) is required for smart control. It can be installed as a stand-alone 1 device to automate an electrical consumer or lighting, or as a complete system to turn an entire property, whether new build or under renovation, into a smart home.

It is one of the smallest WiFi devices for smart control of switches. Its tiny size allows it to be installed behind a standard light switch in a junction box or in an electrical junction box, even as a retrofit.

Installed in the wall socket behind existing light switches, the Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 allows you to remotely control your lighting or other loads and track their off/on status while retaining your existing switches, making it ideal for retrofit "smarting". The Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 can be installed behind a single-button light switch to control lighting, but due to its 8A maximum current limit, it is not suitable for controlling sockets!

The Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 relay, like other small Shelly smart relays, includes a switch input, meaning that when installed behind light switches you can still use the wall switch to switch the lamp (or other load), and remotely switch the controlled lamp or other device via WiFi, and have a range of timers at your disposal. There is also the option to disable the switch in the Shelly app - useful for small children in some rooms - with these settings the relay can only be controlled from the app.

The relay is compatible not only with two-position switches, but also with rocker (or bell) switches. It can also be used to connect alternative and cross-over switches.

With its auto-off function, it can also be set to pulse switching mode.

The Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 relay has a control circuit independent of the power supply (110V-240V AC) and is suitable for voltage-free (dry contact) switching and for controlling up to 8A (max. 240V) AC or 5A (max. 30V) DC! It is also suitable for applications where potential-free switching is required, e.g. garage doors, gate opener motors, etc. It is also capable of switching 12V or 24V DC or AC used in casting systems.

Important: Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 requires provided phase and neutral conductors for operation. Alternatively, the switched phase(s) from the switch(es) must be from the same phase, the Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 is not suitable for multi-phase operation!

GATEWAY FUNCTIONS:

Its predecessor is equipped with the ESP32 chip, but the Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 is now equipped with the ESP-Shelly-C38F chip. Like its predecessor, the device also supports Wi-Fi + Bluetooth protocols. It also includes a Bluetooth gateway, it can also act as a Bluetooth receiver/gateway for Shelly's new generation Bluetooth sensors and Bluetooth remote control. It also includes a Wi-Fi repeater function, which, when enabled, transmits a Wi-Fi signal to remotely installed Shelly devices - a kind of Wi-Fi mesh.

BLUETOOTH PAIRING:

Pairing with your phone is simple and fast, using Bluetooth, just like other second-generation Shelly and Pro devices.

MORE POWERFUL PROCESSOR, MORE FEATURES:

The Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 is now part of the third generation, with twice as much memory as its predecessor ESP-Shelly-C38F chip. This has increased its memory from 4MB to 8MB.

OVERHEATING PROTECTION:

The Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 is equipped with overheat protection, ensuring even safer operation when installed in the smallest wall sockets in small spaces.

Shelly FEATURES:

The product:

Supports HTTP/HTTPS webhooks so enhanced Shelly products can easily connect, notify or control compatible products or other automation systems

Support for sunrise/sunset timed on/off, now with +/-23 hour offset,

can handle up to 20 timers (stored on the device and working offline),

supports mjS scripts, allowing customers to create their own functions and features! Shelly line devices allow multiple scripts to be executed simultaneously, depending on different triggers such as input/output status, sensor data or WLAN requests.

Timeliness:

Off/on timing can be set for days of the week, and support for sunrise and sunset timings (not only for exact time, but also for sunset + 5 hours type timings.)

It also supports auto-off and auto-on timing, i.e. on/off after a fixed time off or on.

Supported modes:

Cloud/Cloud mode: then connects to the free Shelly Cloud, which can be used to control and configure devices from the Shelly Cloud smartphone app (available for iOS and Android) and from https://home.shelly.cloud/; or

select LAN / Local Area Network mode, in which case devices can only be controlled from devices connected to the local network;

we can also operate the device (instead of WiFi client mode) in WiFi Access Point mode (e.g. if there is no permanent WiFi network at the installation site), in which case we can connect a mobile phone or notebook near the device directly to the WiFi AC network broadcast by the device and control the device during the connection.

In Cloud mode, Shelly devices can also control each other (under complex conditions) using the Shelly Cloud Scene (for example, a Shelly relay mounted behind a light switch can turn on/off another Shelly relay behind an outlet that is independent of the Shelly relay from the wiring point on the cloud, and turn it on/off as well, i.e. the devices can simply control each other wirelessly over WiFi and the factory cloud according to rules we specify.

It is also possible to control each other directly with HTTP commands (DDD, Direct Device-to-Device) (even without using Shelly Cloud, even in LAN mode), when using fixed IP addresses, i.e. Shelly devices can also turn each other off/on on the local network in case of external internet disconnection (or disabling on the firewall), using so-called Actions that can be configured in the Shelly App.

For the Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 smart controller, the manufacturer's own smartphone app and its own Cloud service are also available free of charge.

Integrations:

Even with its factory firmware, the Shelly is one of the easiest smart devices on the market to integrate. It supports MQTT and control via REST API. Compatible with Google Home, Amazon Echo and Yandey Alice voice control. Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 supports both Cloud and MQTT control.

Many Shelly devices are already integrated with the SmartThings platform via Shelly Cloud.

In addition, the factory firmware supports a range of other open source and other systems:

  • MQTT
  • HomeSeer
  • ioBroker
  • Home Assistant
  • openHAB
  • Domoticz
  • SYMCAN
  • nymea
  • Hubitat
  • Hoobs
  • REST API

Availability:

Thanks to its tiny size, it fits into the smallest wall socket, typically behind fittings.

Other technical parameters:

110V-240V AC.

Output: 8A / max 240V AC, or 5A / max 30V DC

Like other smart relays, this one requires not only a phase conductor but also a neutral conductor.
